BREAKING: WE Charity stood to gain $43 million, not $19 million as Trudeau government suggested
The WE scandal has grown significantly more damaging for the Trudeau government today after the finance committee revealed the full extent of the cronyism on Thursday.
The WE scandal has grown significantly more damaging for the Trudeau government today after the finance committee revealed the full extent of the cronyism on Thursday.
Previously, the government told Canadians that the civil service suggested the WE Organization to the cabinet due to the fact that they were the only suitable candidates for the roll.
In reality, there was no competitive bid. The WE organization submitted a proposal to cabinet ministers on April 22, meaning the decision came to award WE this contract came entirely from the government.
Secondly, the proposal submitted by WE was entirely different to the contract the Trudeau government later went on to award them. This means that the government altered their legislation so that it would work for WE.
As well as this, the WE organization stood to gain $43 million, rather than the $19 million that was previously suggested. It is, so far, unclear why the government previously stated that it was $19 million.
