Canadian pastor arrested after protesting drag queen story hour event at Calgary library

According to Rebel News, Reimer was "forcibly removed by proponents of a Drag Queen Story Hour event" that was held at the Canadian library over the weekend. Video from the event shows several men pushing Reimer out of the room and shoving him to the ground.

After he gets up Reimer says, "It's very abusive in there. For love is love, that looks like very hateful, very abusive."

CTV reports that Mayor Jyoti Gondek has said she will unpack the "reasons" Canadian law enforcement could not use existing street harassment laws to crack down on protestors of drag queen story hour events.

According to Rebel News, Gondek "promised to weaponize Calgary's anti-street harassment bylaws to prevent anti-drag show protests."

Calgary police arrived at Reimer's home on Wednesday and told him he was going to be arrested but did not complete the arrest at that time.

Rebel News posted video of the encounter, which shows the police asking, "Yeah, hi. Can we talk about what happened on the weekend?"

"Why are you showing up at my home? Why are you showing up at my home? Yeah, you guys could call me," Reimer responds.

After the police say he was trying to call Reimer he tells him he is going to be charged with "mischief and causing a disturbance" for his protest over the weekend.

The next day Rebel News reported on the arrest and video shows Canadian police telling the reporter to "stay out of the workspace" as Reimer is arrested. When the reporter asks what Reimer is being arrested for, the police first ask him to provide identification, which he provides and then they later only say "he has warrants."

Mission 7 Ministries, where Reimer is pastor, say on their website that "The heart of MISSION7 is walking like Jesus. (1 John 2:6) reaching the homeless, the lost and those in need, (Matthew 25:35-40) preaching the gospel and healing the sick (Mark 16:15-18). Giving them the hope that is in Christ Jesus our savior and making them aware of God’s free gift of grace (Ephesians 2:8)."

Reimer was arrested previously for protesting at a different "all-ages" drag queen show.

"Reimer was the second client of the registered Canadian charity, The Democracy Fund's (TDF) Fight The Fines program, after receiving Covid tickets for feeding the homeless, an act the City of Calgary called 'illegal gatherings,'" reports Rebel News.
