Chinese spies specifically focus on US politicians like Eric Swalwell: experts
Experts familiar with Chinese espionage say that the case of Chinese spy Christine Fang is far from being isolated. In fact, that is the common MO of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

In the US and all over the world, the CCP has female operatives who are directed to have romantic or sexual relationships with people high up in the government and in the business world.
According to the Epoch Times, these tactics (called "honeytrapping") usually culminte in a transfer of valued information, classified or otherwise, and/or blackmail of the victim.
Timothy Heath, a senior researcher at RAND Corporation, said, "We know it is a tactic that is used by Chinese intelligence agencies to obtain both intelligence and political influence and access to political intelligence. It could be used for a wide range of purposes."
"I’ve heard American scholars and others who visited China have been approached by attractive young women and solicited. In most cases I’m aware of, these Americans received briefings from intelligence warning them about this."
An anonymous source also told the media that there could be hundreds if not thousands of such cases within the US alone at this point in time.
Once a victim is compromised, generally more and more sensitive information is forthcoming in exchange for the silence of the CCP on his or her wrongdoings. Sometimes even girls who are still minors are used for this purpose.
Fang herself famously had a romantic and/or sexual relationship with Democratic Congressman Eric Swalwell, as well as at least two mayors of major US cities.
