According to the Globe and Mail, the Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner, Mario Dion, has launched an official inquiry in to the actions of the PMO around the SNC-Lavalin scandal.
If confirmed, this would be Justin Trudeau's fifth and most serious ethics investigations since coming into power. The NDP requested the investigation.
The Globe and Mail had previously reported that the PMO allegedly asked former Attorney General Jody Wilson-Raybould to not pursue prosecution of a case against SNC-Lavelin. Wilson-Raybould apparently did not play along with the scheme.
Trudeau has denied the allegation and the current Attorney General, David Lametti has claimed that he has not seen evidence to merit investigation.
Despite this assertion, Mr. Dion and the NDP both see things quite differently and an investigation appears imminent.
