A teenager in Daytona Beach, FL has just pleaded guilty to killing his mother over an argument in 2018.
Gregory Ramos, now age 17, entered into the plea bargain agreement in which he will get 45 years in prison for his crimes.
According to local outlet 7 News Miami, Ramos strangled his mother, Gail Cleavenger, in DeBary, FL on Nov. 2 of 2018. At the time, he was 15 and Cleavenger was 46 years old.
Ramos then proceeded to put his mother's body in a wheelbarrow and carry it to the family van, where he drove it off. He eventually would bury his mother's body near their home, on the property of a church in DeBary.
"He is extremely remorseful and he regrets his actions every day. He is looking forward to having a release date and proving he can be a productive citizen," Said Matt Phillips, the Florida Public Defender assigned to Ramos's case.
Two of Ramos's friends have also been charged as after-the-fact accessories, since they weren't present at the actual homicide, but helped him to cover up his crime afterwards by staging a burglary at his home. They are currently facing charges and may wind up being sentenced for up to 30 years in prison.
