BREAKING: GOP Senator wins Alaska race; Senate one step closer to Republicans retaining control

Organizations started to call the election for Sullivan on Wednesday morning.

Sullivan's win will pull the Republicans ahead by one, leaving the two Georgia races the last ones to be decided in the Senate.

The two Georgia senate races will likely wind up being decided by runoffs, as they are both too close to call at this late hour. The balance of the Senate majority is most probably going to wind up being decided by these two runoffs, although the GOP is fairly heavily favoured to win at this point.

The two clutch Senate races are between Republican Kelly Loeffler and Democrat Raphael Warnock, and Republican David Perdue and Democrat Jon Ossoff, respectively.

Warnock is an especially controversial figure, known as a fiery Baptist preacher and head of a large church, who has made statements from the pulpit that have been construed as being overly disparaging towards the police:

"We are seeing the mean and ugly clutches of America’s prison industrial complex, and we are witnessing each week the ways in which its pernicious tentacles make their way into our neighborhoods and it doesn’t matter what kind of hood you live in. There is somebody always trying to steal our joy."

"It’s children’s day and we got to lift up our children because our children are in trouble, and it’s often those who are sworn to protect who cause more trouble."

"We need to reimagine policing and reimagine the relationships between law enforcement and communities,” Warnock said. “We certainly need to demilitarize the police so we can rebuild the trust between the police and the community."
