A caravan that was formed in Honduras earlier this week and has made its way to Guatemala where it has reportedly gotten violent with Guatemalan security forces.
People are speculating that this new caravan has formed in the hopes of Joe Biden's proposed immigration reforms being passed.
According to Reuters, the two groups clashed in the village of Vado Hondo in eastern Guatemala as security forces amassed there in an effort to detain the caravan of approximately 7000-8000 people, most of whom are presumed to be Hondurans who entered Guatemala illegally.
Members of the caravan attacked a line of around 3000 members of security forces on Sunday morning, and many were reportedly hit with nightsticks. The total amount of injuries and their nature is not known as of this writing.
As with previous caravans, the large group is allegedly planning to fight their way across Guatemala and then Mexico until they get to the US border, where they will do their best to cross it by any means at their disposal.
Mexican authorities, citing both reasons of security and stopping the spread of the novel coronavirus, have released a statement saying that any type of unauthorized entry will be opposed.
They have also reached out to authorities in Central American nations in an effort to coordinate measures to halt the caravan.
Immigration to the US has been temporarily halted by President Trump due to the pandemic.
