Illegal immigrants charged in 75% of this year’s murders in Fairfax County, VA: DHS

"Of the four defendants in Fairfax County murder trials this year, THREE are ILLEGAL ALIENS," the DHS wrote. "Governor Spanberger must end her sanctuary policies that allow these illegal aliens onto our streets and work with DHS to protect the citizens of the commonwealth."

In one of the most recent cases, Misael Lopez Gomez was arrested on Tuesday and charged second-degree murder and a felony child abuse for allegedly killing his 3-month-old daughter. Preliminary results from the autopsy conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined that the cause of death was blunt force trauma.

The DHS said that it had issued an arrest detainer. He allegedly admitted to entering the US illegally through the southern border near Albuquerque, New Mexico in July 2023.

Another Guatemalan illegal immigrant, Anibal Armando Chavarria Muy, has been charged with second-degree murder after a victim was found dead in his home on March 29. The man had been found with multiple stab wounds to the upper body.

In late February, a case gained national attention after a woman was stabbed to death at a bus stop in Hybla Valley. Abdul Jalloh, a violent offender with over 30 prior arrests, has been charged with second-degree murder in the case. Jalloh is originally from Sierra Leone and came to the US illegally in 2012. ICE had previously lodged a detainer against Jalloh in 2020, and a final order of removal had been granted. He had faced numerous charges over the year, including rape, theft, and assault, but many of the cases were not pursued by local prosecutors because the victims, most of whom were homeless, refused to come forward to testify.
