Jagmeet Singh claims there’s a connection between anti-lockdown protestors and right-wing extremism
“To brazenly not follow public-health guidelines puts people at risk and that is something that we’ve seen with extreme right-wing ideology. There is a connection, certainly,” said Singh.
"To brazenly not follow public-health guidelines puts people at risk and that is something that we’ve seen with extreme right-wing ideology. There is a connection, certainly."
Singh went on to claim that people that ignore the advice of public health "experts" do so because they show a "disregard" for the well-being of others, and this is why people affiliated with far-right groups are drawn to these protests.
Calgary's mayor, Naheed Nenshi, appeared to agree with Singh's sentiments, calling the demonstrations "thinly veiled white nationalist, supremacist anti-government protests."
Regardless of the above, lockdown protests are being seen in a more positive light by many as the lockdown drags on. In one incident, Toronto police refused to arrest people at a recent anti-lockdown protest.
