Justin Trudeau continues to plummet in polls after WE scandal

The Summer of 2020 will not be one that Justin Trudeau will fondly look back on. After surging in the polls during the pandemic, his government has suffered significantly as a result of the WE scandal.
49 percent of Canadians now say that the scandal has worsened their opinion of the prime minister, as reported in a new Leger poll. Only 29 percent of Canadians say that their opinion remains unchanged, and a measly 4 percent say (from under their rock) that it has improved.
In what is perhaps a more positive statistic, only 13 percent of Canadians say that they "don't know enough about the issue," meaning that the public have been paying attention to the debacle.
Whatever may be going on in government, Canada's civil society remains strong.
This was all corroborated by another poll conducted by Abacus Data a few weeks ago. The Liberal Party's support, it seems, is steadily dropping. Justin Trudeau's Liberal Party is shown to have the support of 36 percent of Canadians poll—a significant drop from the mid-pandemic polling.
The Conservative Party, on the other hand, were shown to be polling at 31 percent. It is worth noting that the Tories do not have a leader and are in the middle of an acrimonious leadership election.
The WE Charity scandal has damaged the government considerably. Some pundits have even asked whether it may bring down the government. Trudeau's Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland's name has made some particularly aggressive comments.
Justin Trudeau's personal approval ratings have also been affected by the scandal, causing the prime minister to drop from 47 percent approval to 31 percent over the course of a month.
