Liberal MP allegedly said “F*ck steelworkers” and kicked reps out of office

On Tuesday, a delegation of five steelworkers union representatives were allegedly screamed at by Hamilton East-Stoney Creek MP Bob Bratina.

According to the Hamilton Spectator, "at the height of the incident, said Jim McColl, Bratina shouted, 'F--- the steelworkers' and 'F--- Jake Lombardo (a Local 1005 grievance chairperson),' and also kicked a chair and banged his table, before ousting the five-person delegation from his office."

As a result, the presidents of the two steelworker locals involved are demanding an apology from the Liberal MP.

While Bob Bratina does dispute the unions telling of the story, the timing of it could not be any worse for the Liberal federal government.

Already, many steelworkers, as well as workers in industries that rely on steel, are struggling under the weight of American sanctions and blame the Trudeau government's lack of swift action on a critical file.

At the same time, the party is fighting for its life in the court of public opinion due to the recent damning testimony put forward by Justin Trudeau's former Attorney General, Jody Wilson-Raybould.

Her testimony alleged that the PMO, as well as the Prime Minister, repeatedly put undue pressure on the former AG. You can read our coverage of Wilson-Raybould's testimony bhere. Interestingly, the Prime Minister still maintains that if Scott Brison had not resigned, none of this would have occurred.

In this key time-frame, a political snafu like this could seriously separate the Liberal brand from the average Canadian worker.
