A federal Liberal riding association executive, Mark Elyas, expressed opinions online regarding shooting those who break social distancing rules.
Elyas has a history of controversial posts on Facebook. In 2018, Elyas called for Trump supporters to lose their children, posted on Facebook agreeing with Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte that police should shoot those breaking distancing laws.
"I hate [Duterte] but he's 100 percent right on this one," said Elyas.
"Shoot people on sight who defy curfews (snipers can be posted anywhere about 2 kilometres from targets. That will kill the spread of the virus and then we can go back to normal," Elyas posted.

As it turned out, Duterte's "order" for police to kill those on sight ended up being fake news. Duterte actually told police that they needed to defend themselves, and use deadly force from protestors if necessary.
“If your life is in danger, shoot them dead," said Duterte.
As mentioned before, Elyas has quite the history of online controversy. Following President Trump's victory over Hillary Clinton, Elyas accused Trump of being "retarded," calling him a pedophile, and urged him to kill himself.
