Rico Marley, aged 22 years, has been arrested and charged on Thursday after entering a Publix supermarket in Midtown Atlanta with body armor and no less than six guns, plus extra ammunition.
A customer, Charles Russell, spotted Marley, armed and armored to the teeth, going into the store's bathroom and alerted store management, who in turn called the authorities. They were able to apprehend him as he left the bathroom.
Said Russell later when interviewed, "I saw an AR-15, and I was like... you know, this kind of startled me, again, with the events that just recently happened in the grocery store up in Colorado.
"I went to the clerk at the customer service desk working at the time and let them know. It wasn't acted upon right away. It was actually taken a little more lightly than I thought it would be, especially with the recent events."
According to The Blaze, nobody was harmed before Marley could be arrested, and there were no shots fired. It appears as though a potential repeat of the tragic incident in Boulder CO, which left ten people dead.
Another mass shooting had also just recently occurred in Atlanta as well, which in left eight people dead.
Marley has now been charged with criminal attempt to commit a felony, reckless conduct and possession of a firearm or knife with intent to commit a felony, among other charges.
A Publix spokesperson stated:
"At Publix, the safety of our associates and customers is our priority. We are cooperating with local law enforcement on an incident that occurred earlier today in our Atlantic Station store. We are thankful that there were no injuries, and all were able to exit the store safely. The store is currently closed. Additional questions should be directed to the Atlanta Police Department."
