The House of Commons' health committee has ordered that the Trudeau government release all documents detailing with its coronavirus mismanagement.
In particular, it will force the government's public health agency to clarify how they let Canada's pandemic supplies to run dry before coronavirus, despite repeated warnings from health officials, according to Blacklock's Reporter.
Liberal Health Minister Patty Hajdu has become somewhat of a villain for Conservative supporters due to her perceived incompetence. Hajdu, for instance, was concerned about closing borders out of fear of "discrimination."
As well as this, Hajdu also accused a journalist of spreading conspiracy theories after they expressed concern over the validity of China's coronavirus data.
Patty Hajdu was also revealed to have boasted about how they were prepared for coronavirus, discarding millions of masks in the process.
As a result of all this, the documents that the government will release may be damaging.
"It’s imperative for the protection of Canadians that we’re as transparent as possible," said the Conservative health critic.
"You may be friends with the Minister of Health, you may be friends with certain members of the government, but at the end of the day we as a committee have been tasked with finding as much information as possible," he added.
This bill has received broad support from the opposition. Canada has often been viewed as a success when it comes to its handling of the coronavirus pandemic. In reality, however, Canada has struggled with the virus.
This release of documents could further damage a government who is reeling from the most recent WE Charity scandal.
