Two masks to be required for entrance to Manhattan federal court buildings
People entering the federal buildings in downtown Manhattan as of now will have to wear either two masks or a certified N95 mask in order to enter, as per their “phased re-entry plan” of Feb. 11.
People entering the federal buildings in downtown Manhattan as of now will have to wear either two masks or a certified N95 mask in order to enter, as per their "phased re-entry plan" of Feb. 11.
According to the NY Post, the actual relevant text of the plan (which can be found here,) states:
"You are required to wear either: (i) one disposable mask underneath a cloth mask with the edges of the inner mask pushed against your face; or (ii) a properly fitted, FDA-authorized KN95 (or N95) mask,"
"Gaiters, bandannas, or masks with valves/vents are not acceptable face coverings. If you do not have the approved mask(s), a screener will provide one. No one will be admitted without the proper mask(s)."
The buildings affected are located at 500 Pearl Street and at 40 Foley Square in the downtown area of Manhattan. Also, The District Court in suburban White Plains NY, located just north of the Bronx, will also be enforcing the same rule for masking.
"If you have a physical covering with one layer, you put another layer on, it just makes common sense that it likely would be more effective," said the now widely-known White House disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci.
There is a possibility that more federal facilities nationwide may follow suit and implement the two-mask rule as well.
