Yeonmi Park, a refugee from North Korea who now lives in the US, was mugged by three black women in Chicago last year but says that she was prevented at the time from detaining one of her attackers or calling 911 by a mob of people.
According to the Daily Mail, the incident occurred on a day when there was widespread chaos and looting in the city of Chicago, and Park was walking near the Saks Fifth Avenue downtown.
Park told Rogan that she was approached by three black women and one of them stole her wallet. "They were telling me that the color of their skin doesn’t make them a thief, [that] calling a black person a thief is racist," commented Park, adding that "anybody can become a murderer or a thief, but it just happened to be a black woman."
"I tried to call the police and [the mob surrounding Park] prevented me from calling the police." According to police records, the woman who stole the wallet was later identified and arrested. Lecretia Harris, 29 years of age, was eventually sentenced to two years in prison after entering into a plea bargain agreement.
Park later in the interview re-iterated her sentiments on "woke" culture in the US, and said that there are "so many similarities to what I saw in North Korea."
