Valeria Vasnetsova, a Russian Olympian competing in the biathlon, went public voicing her frustration over what she called "unreasonable" quarantine conditions at the Olympic games in Beijing.
"My stomach hurts, I’m very pale and I have huge black circles around my eyes. I want all this to end. I cry every day. I’m very tired," the athlete stated on social media. "My bones are already sticking out."

According to the New York Post, Vasnetsova is upset about the lack of access to training equipment and the abysmal quality of the food she had been served "for breakfast, lunch and dinner for five days already."
She also uploaded a photo showing an example of what she was talking about, which is shown in this article's image. The meat is burned badly, there is a preponderance of starch, and no fruit or vegetables are present.
Strangely enough, Vasnetsova also mentioned that her team's doctor is receiving vegetables, while she, as an Olympic athlete, is not.
The Post also reports that there may be a double-standard in effect at the Beijing Olympics, as "some athletes who test positive are forced into the hotels provided by Chinese authorities; others are allowed to quarantine in the Olympic Village."
