PC MPP mocks anti-lockdown protestors in TikTok, calls them ‘dumbasses’

The "pots and pans" march was organized in response to a new full lockdown that the Ontario government has imposed in Toronto and Peel region. This lockdown has resulted in small businesses having to close their doors while big box stores like Walmart and Costco who sell some of the same items, can remain open.

Many small business owners feel unfairly treated, and owners of some of these businesses took to the lawn of Queens Park to share their frustrations with the Ford Government. Instead of coming out and speaking with these protestors, which include small business owners, MPP Ghamari put up the phrase “pandemic isn't over just because you're over it” in her office window, which faces the lawn of Queens Park.

She then proceeded to film the protestors to put them into a TikTok where she mocked them, and labeled them as “anti maskers” despite the fact that the protest was not against masks. She also mocked a frustrated protester who let out a swearword while being interviewed.

To her TikTok, she added a song which repeats the same phrase that she put on her window, “Pandemic isn't over just because you're over it”. Ghamari seems to be insisting that small business owners and other people who are fed up with the lockdown will simply have to suck it up until the vaccine comes along.

At the end of her TikTok, she rejoiced over the fact that MPP Randy Hillier was charged for organizing the protest, which violated the Reopening Ontario Act also known as Bill 195. If found guilty, Hillier faces a fine of up to $100,000 for organizing a protest. Protesting is allowed and protected under the Canadian constitution.

The prosecution of politicians who oppose a governmental agenda is usually done in countries with authoritarian regimes, however that practice is now being done in Ontario. This happened the same day that Adam Skelly was arrested for reopening his restaurant, after police heavily swarmed his business.

Ghamari then continued her TikTok by photoshopping a mask onto Hillier. It then ended with the phrase "don't be a dumbass.” Ghamari isn't the first member of the PC caucus to insult those who oppose lockdowns. Premier Doug Ford famously called anti-lockdown protestors “a bunch of yahoos” in the spring.

Tensions over the lockdown remain tense, following the arrest of Adam Skelly. Other small businesses say they plan on reopening despite the lockdown order.
