Joy Reid calls Chris Rufo’s requests for a debate ‘white man demands’

Reid characterized Rufo's repeated requests to debate her in public as nothing more than "white man demands", and saying further that those requests were "a weirdly aggressive way to get yourself on TV."

This, of course, ignores the fact that she was the one who originally brought Rufo's name before the public of her own accord. In fact, Reid has been among many mainstream media outlets criticizing Rufo recently.

Rufo in turn, asked her to debate so that he could have a chance to defend himself:

"@JoyAnnReid has denounced me by name multiple times on her show. But she doesn't have the courage to invite me on as a guest," wrote Rufo on Twitter.

"She knows that I will crush her critical race theory apologetics any day of the week."

To Reid direcly he wrote:

"I’m challenging you to a debate about critical race theory. The real question: are you going to accept this challenge or not?"

Support for the debate appears to be pretty high on social media:

One person actually described Reid's use of the term "white man demands" as overtly and "insanely" racist:

Reid's repeated calling out of Rufo on her show appears to have mainly been because of Rufo's continued efforts against Critical Race Theory, or CRT.
