The US Secret Service told WSVN that Spillman had been in the Miami-Dade area "as part of the security screening detail at Trump Doral for the president's visit." He had not been part of Trump’s "details other [than] for perimeter security. He was off duty when arrested."

He has been charged with indecent exposure. Doubletree Hotel security staff told the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office that Spillman had been spotted with "his pants lowered" on the 6th floor.
