Taylor Lorenz walks back allegations of online harassment against Drudge Report editor

According to a Reliable Sources newsletter section penned by Oliver Darcy, Lorenz claimed that the was repeatedly harassed after Matt Drudge contacted her himself. The editor in question reportedly told Lorenz that he would use the website to destroy her career.

The now-deleted tweet read: “After calling and texting me relentlessly for the past couple of weeks, the Drudge Report editor just called my personal cell phone number, yelled at me when I asked him to leave me alone and said he would ‘blast my name all over Drudge Report until it ruins my career’,” according to the New York Post.

Darcy continued on to say that the allegation was so serious, that he reached out to Drudge himself to gain clarity on the situation.

Drudge said that he had "never contacted her, nor has anyone associated with the Drudge Report," and made it clear that he was not pleased with these allegations against his site.

Darcy said that Drudge had forwarded him an email he sent to Lorenz asking for a correction on the matter in response to Lorenz’s tweet on the matter.

In response to Drudge’s request, Lorenz posted in a now-deleted tweet: "For anyone who saw my post abt this man claiming to be from Drudge calling me non stop, good news: I heard from Matt Drudge & this man has zero power over Drudge! He's claiming to be an editor all over the internet but he's not. Sorry to disappoint everyone saying Drudge is based."

Lorenz told Darcy that her initial tweets on the matter were a "joke," and that she found the idea "hilarious" that someone could destroy her career through the Drudge Report.

According to Darcy, Lorenz said she was "laughing very hard about the idea" and was just joking about it online. "I am happy to correct the record that I have no drama with Drudge Report."

A Washington Post spokesperson told Darcy that "Taylor was repeatedly contacted by someone who claimed to be a Drudge editor. As soon as she learned the person had no connection to the Drudge Report, she deleted the original tweet and wrote a tweet apologizing for her comment..."

Lorenz came into the spotlight once again recently after posting an exposé revealing the woman behind the popular Twitter account Libs of TikTok.

The piece had originally contained a link to the personal information of the account holder, before the outlet later scrubbed the piece from the details.

After the release of the article, a woman by the same name as the Libs of TikTok account holder revealed on social media that she had to endure near-constant harassment from those delivering vile messages to her.

Lorenz said that her family and friends had also been doxxed following the article, writing in a since-deleted tweet: "After my whole family was doxxed again this morning trolls have now moved on to doxxing and stalking any random friend I've tagged on IG. They're posting their personal details of my friends and sending threatening texts w/ messages 'I noticed you are close to Taylor Lorenz...'"
