BREAKING: Trudeau tells Canadians to ‘imagine’ how bad coronavirus will get, won’t release numbers

To start, Trudeau told Canadians that he took place in a first ministers meeting with provincial premiers to continue to continue to work with provinces to "keep people safe."

Trudeau also revealed that the government has been proactive in sending the provinces personal protective equipment. Last night, he said, over a million masks were delivered to a Hamilton, Ontario warehouse. Additionally, tens of million masks "over the last few days" have also been distributed.

The prime minister went on to commend the three thousand companies across the country that have stepped up in the fight to provide vital equipment to medical workers and citizens.

Trudeau gave the example of Bauer, who typically create hockey masks and other equipment. The company has made "hundreds of thousands of face shields," Trudeau said.

He continued by saying that provincial premiers will continue to work together to share data, figures, and modelling.

In regards to a timeline, Trudeau said that more information would be coming "soon," putting responsibility in the Canadian people's behaviour, specifically in following top medical experts across the globe to stay home.

"Those depend directly on Canadian's behaviours. They depend on people follow the rules around social distancing ... These kinds of things will have a direct impact on which of the various models that are out there will be the one we take. We're going to continue to work on those analysis ... We're going to continue to be open with Canadians about those expectations."

"Imagine" the range of scenarios, says Trudeau

When asked why projections could not be released, Trudeau said he thinks people can "imagine" the range of scenarios, from "everyone gets suddenly better" to "things keep getting worse."

"There is a range out there, and just highlighting that range is not as useful or important as being able to get clearer numbers and analysis of what we are likely to face," he said.

When told that other countries were releasing their modelling, Trudeau said various sources of data needed to be aligned to get "more accurate models."

"We look forward to sharing more with Canadians in the coming days."

The prime minister also refused to dismiss China's data, which was shown by a report released by Wednesday by Bloomberg were likely decreased in severity. "We need to keep learning from other countries," he said. Trudeau stated that questions about who was less forthcoming with data will be answered in "future times."
