Washington gym teacher says he is ‘guilty’ of committing multiple felony sex crimes against 13-year-old female student

Court documents obtained by The Ari Hoffman Show on Talk Radio 570 KVI revealed the grooming and abuse that spanned from September 2024 to February 2026, when the victim, identified as KV, was just 13 and 14 years old. According to the charging documents, Bubar allegedly began targeting KV during her seventh-grade year, showering her with special gifts, awards, and attention as a student and soccer player, tactics that evolved into a predatory sexual relationship by her eighth grade year.

The abuse reportedly included oral and vaginal rape with his fingers and penis, occurring multiple times, including at the school. Bubar admitted to investigators that he orally assaulted the child 10-15 times and digitally penetrated her around 20 times. He even provided her with sex toys, lubricant, and alcohol on school grounds.

The victim's mother, Rachele V., reported the disclosure to authorities on March 2, 2026, after KV confided that the "relationship" had been ongoing for 18-24 months. In a child forensic interview, KV described how Bubar manipulated her into believing they were "in love," showcasing the depths of his coercive control. Prosecutors described the case as a "horrific abuse of power," exploiting the trust placed in educators by families and communities.

Detectives with the sheriff’s office Special Assault Unit arrested Bubar at the school on the morning of March 6.

A deputy wrote in court documents, “Bubar stated several times that he was ‘guilty,’ and everything that had happened was his fault." Bubar cried several times while discussing the impact he’d had… he stated, ‘I’ll be perceived as whatever it is, I get it, I own that, I deserve it, but I just hope the people that know me, it doesn’t matter. Perceptions are going to change.'”

Bubar described to deputies multiple sex acts with the victim but claimed they never had intercourse due to “performance” issues. Then, Bubar apologized, began crying, and said: “I felt like I was a trusting adult that she could talk to and care about, and it’s inappropriate.”

According to deputies, Bubar used various sex toys and permitted deputies to retrieve the items from his truck as evidence. Bubar told investigators multiple times that he was “guilty” and that everything that had happened was his fault, according to court documents.

Prosecutors filed charges including Rape of a Child in the Second Degree, Rape of a Child in the Third Degree, and Communication with a Minor for Immoral Purposes. The state tacked on a predatory allegation to the second-degree rape count, which could mandate a 25-year minimum sentence if convicted. Bail was set at $750,000, with requests for a Sexual Assault Protection Order, firearm surrender, no contact with minors, and a ban from Skykomish K-12 School.

Prosecutors warned of Bubar's flight risk and the danger he poses to other children, citing his manipulative influence over KV and potential access to vulnerable minors. Bubar is scheduled for arraignment at 8:30 am on Monday, March 16, in Room 1201 of the King County Courthouse, where he will enter an initial plea.

Officials from the Skykomish School District said the school will remain closed until Monday, March 16, “to allow students, parents and staff to process the events of the last several days.” The district said in a statement to KOMO News that it learned of the accusations against an employee last Friday, March 6, and apologized “for the lack of information provided to parents as the police activity unfolded at the school.” The district called the allegations “extremely serious and concerning, for our school and for the entire community,” and said it will initiate an independent third-party investigation into the events surrounding the allegations.
