WATCH: Jason Whitlock says white liberals supporting the defunding of the police will ensure more black people are killed

Sports journalist Jason Whitlock appeared on Tucker Carlson Wednesday evening, stating that the defunding of the police is the best way to ensure more black people are killed.
Carlson kicked off the segment by addressing Al Sharpton's words from Tuesday, saying that Sharpton—one usually thought to be a radical—has even condemned the effort to defund the police. Sharpton allegedly suggested that people who live in poor neighborhoods are the ones who would be paying the price for such an effort.
Whitlock responded: "If you're a white liberal, and you'd like to see more African Americans murdered, supporting of the defunding of the police is the best way to accomplish that. The murder rates in all these cities with the hostility towards the police is astronomical, where the disrespect for the police is astronomical, and the police are justifiably pulling back, because like 'I don't want to get caught up in this. I don't want to accused of being a racist and have my life destroyed.'"
"The murder rates in those communities are going up if you evaluate the actions of these white liberals, who claim they're fighting for equality. Evaluate their actions, then evaluate the results of their actions. And it paints them as the true racists."
The Wallstreet Journal reported in early July: "In Milwaukee, homicides are up 37% so far this year, on pace to break the record of 167 in 1991, which included 16 murders by convicted serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer. Homicides so far this year in Chicago are ahead of the pace of 2016, which marked the city’s highest tally since 1996. In New York and Los Angeles, which have seen falling numbers of homicides for years, killings this year are up 23% and 11.6%, respectively. Kansas City, Mo., has recorded 99 killings since January, far outpacing any record for the first six months of the year."
The outlet continued by saying that there were "27 homicides in Chicago in the week ended July 5," noting that this was a "125% increase from a year earlier."
The NYPD reported that during the full month of June, there "was a 130% increase in the number of shooting incidents across the city," noting that the number of shootings had gone up in every borough in New York.
This does not account for the protests-turned-riots that have ravaged many of the largest cities in the country amid the death of George Floyd—with participants committing vandalism, arson, burglary, assault, and even murder.
