Officers responded to a report that the federal agent had been kidnapped.
According to a statement as well as police report, the Plymouth Police Department said that officers responded to a report that a federal agent had been kidnapped. After the incident, federal assault charges have been filed against Oluwadamilola Ogooluwa Bamigboye, 24, and Rekeya Lionesha Lee Frazier, 23.
According to Alpha News, charging documents in the case said that the Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agent was with other officials surveilling an apartment complex and was searching for Bamigboye, who had overstayed a visa.
Both Bamigboye and Frazier were seen by the HSI agents as they drove up next to the agents at the complex. Bamigboye then exited the vehicle, hiding his face, and when authorities approached him, he jumped in the back seat, allegedly telling Frazier to drive away. As that took place, the agent jumped in the front seat in an attempt to stop them from leaving, while another agent tried to pull Bamigboye out of the car. The agent attempting to get Bamigboye was pushed out, but the agent who jumped in the front seat remained as the two suspects drove off.
Both Plymouth and New Hope police officers responded to the incident as the reported vehicle was en route to New Hope from Plymouth. "Plymouth police responded to 911 calls regarding individuals in a vehicle moving from Plymouth into New Hope. Upon arriving at the New Hope City Center, Plymouth police officers confirmed that the incident stemmed from federal law enforcement activities, and Plymouth officers cleared themselves from the incident," the statement said in part.
911 calls were made by another agent who was reportedly chasing the suspect's vehicle, as well as the driver of the fleeing vehicle, who said they were driving to the police department. The vehicle with the agent inside was eventually stopped and secured by authorities at the New Hope Police Department.
