Anti-Israel activists crashed a Democratic rally supporting Vice President Kamala Harris in New York City on Wednesday where Mayor Eric Adams was speaking and went on to trash the afterparty venues, causing thousands of dollars in damage to the nearby restaurant.

Agitators wearing keffiyehs set off smoke bombs and some were taken into custody by NYPD officers. At least 14 were arrested. An NYPD vehicle was graffitied with the words "Free Gaza" while a protester plastered a sign on a restaurant window that read "No Votes for Bombala's Genocide."

While Democratic Mayor Eric Adams was speaking at the event in the Hamilton Heights neighborhood of Harlem, activists were removed from the venue, per the New York Post. Freedom TV was on the scene to capture footage of the mayhem.

Neither Harris nor her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz were at the event, disappointing some the attendees. The duo had been featured prominently on the event flyer. Kamala Harris was instead in Boston.

Attendees included City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams and Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul. Hochul told the crowd, “I am so energized and so excited about heading off to Chicago and bringing home a victory.”

Mayor Adams said, “Make sure you vote,” adding, “Everyone that’s on this stage right now comes from different political spectrum, we don’t always agree on the same thing. But the ability to know when you are in a real fight … this is the real fight.”

Following the rally, some of the angry mob stormed the nearby Bird in Hand restaurant on Broadway and West 146th Street. The owner of the restaurant estimated thousands of dollars in damage.

"Nothing really came of it besides us, a small business, mom-and-pop business in New York, I’m gonna be the one waking up in the morning fixing all this," owner Brian Felicetta said. "Myself and my (business) partner were both born-and-bred New Yorkers, we’re for everybody, so I don’t know what the target or intention was based around this, but it makes no sense to me."

Video footage from the scene showed cops taking the violent activists into custody as a mob circled the officers. Activists blasted horns and set off smoke bombs while some attacked the police.

Activists graffitied “Free Gaza” on a police car, and put up a poster that proclaimed, “No Votes For Bombala’s Genocide” on a restaurant window.

According to the NYPD, at least 14 activists were arrested.

Brian Felicetta the owner of Bird in Hand told The New York Post that the damages to the restaurant were at least a few thousand dollars.

Wednesday night’s incidents come just days before the Democratic National Convention begins in Chicago.
