Steven Krage, 32, of Addison, has been accused of uploading child sex abuse material on Discord and X, formerly known as Twitter, and possessing the content on his devices.
Steven Krage, 32, who works at the Addison Public Library, has been accused of uploading child sex abuse material on Discord and X, formerly known as Twitter, and possessing the content on his devices.
Investigators allegedly found more than 100 child pornographic files on his phone, according to DuPage County Judge Joshua Drieden, who ordered Krage to be held in jail under the dangerousness standard.
He is facing seven felony counts. The victim(s) are under the age of 13, according to jail booking documents.
Judge Dieden reasoned his decision to deny Krage bail on the chance that he would unintentionally come into contact with kids while conducting errands in the neighborhood, at his apartment complex, or elsewhere.
Dieden wrote that there was nothing he could do to ensure Krage wouldn't have access to the internet.
According to Krage's social media accounts, he has political left leanings and has voiced support for former Democrat Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. He describes himself as a writer, performer, and composer on Facebook.
In a statement issued on Saturday, library director Mary Medjo Me Zengue said that Krage's workspace was on the third level and that he was not in direct contact with library patrons.
"We are deeply saddened by these developments and want to assure our community that we are taking this matter very seriously. Our priority remains providing a safe and welcoming environment for all patrons and staff members. We ask for your patience and understanding as we navigate this difficult situation together," said Zengue, according to the Daily Herald.
A prosecutor's detention petition stated that the state attorney general's office alerted Addison police on January 31 to the discovery of many child pornographic materials uploaded to Discord and X accounts. Investigators claim that Krage was the owner of the accounts.
Krage was arrested by police on April 24. It is unclear when he will reappear in court.
