New York City Police announced on Friday that the alleged gunman in a January 28 subway shooting that left one victim shot in the arm and stomach is a NYC comedian slated to perform at the LOL Comedy Lounge near Times Square.

The New York Post reports, "The alleged crime clown, Marcos Cofresi, 30, who performs under the names Leo and Leonardo Cofresi, is on the bill at the LOL Comedy Lounge on West 46th Street."

According to the NYPD, on January 28 around 1 am, the suspected shooter and his female companion got into a fight with a 43-year-old man on the southbound N train. Police said the fight may have started after an accidental "bump" between the two men.

James Essig, NYPD Chief of Detectives, said, "He's a comedian wanted in a shooting. There was a bump. Marcos pulls a gun."

As the train arrived at the Broadway and Canal subway station, the fight escalated and the suspect pulled a firearm and shot the victim, who was later taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment.

Pam Lavelle, the victim's cousin who lives in the Bronx, told the Post that he is "doing well, much better."

"I think it's absolutely insane that people are shooting people for no reason," she added.

According to CBS News, Cofresi is a "well-known comedian."

On TikTok, Cofresi uploaded one of his acts.

He said in a stand-up performance, "Remember when people wanted to get rid of cops? Remember that, like a year ago?"

"Some dude in a turtleneck was like, 'We should get rid of cops.' I was like, 'You look very robbable!' I was like, 'Are you a fighter? Why do you wanna get rid of cops?' He's like, 'No, I'm not a fighter, I'm a lover,'" the alleged shooter said.

Cofresi then gave his punchline and said, "I was like, 'No, you're victim. We gonna rob you dawg!'"

The New York Post reports that a Fargo, North Dakota comedy club, the Front Street Tap Room, listed Cofresi as a performer with the bio "Leo Cofresi is a Dominican ex-gang member. On stage, he has a devil's advocate style with goofy and observational jokes. You can see him on 'Game Theory' on HBO."
