UPDATE: The Ontario government has confirmed that the province will in fact enter Stage One of reopening as of June 11. Previous story below.

Ontario's Minister of Health Christine Elliott told CTV News that the province is considering entering stage one of its three-stage re-opening plan starting on June 11.

“I can tell you that (a June 11 reopening) is something we are looking. We are still looking at the numbers and the numbers are looking quite favourable but there are still other factors we have to take into consideration,” the minister said.

Elliott told CTV that the plan correlates with Ontario surpassing the 60 percent vaccination threshold, a benchmark Ontario surpassed last Friday.

Elliott also said that businesses would be given sufficient notice of when restrictions lift.

Ontario's stage one would allow:
Larger outdoor gatherings for up to 10 people
Outdoor dining for up to 4 people per table
Essential retail capacity at 25%
Non-essential retail at 15%
Outdoor religious services, rites and ceremonies with capacity limited to permit physical distancing of 2 metres
Outdoor sports, fitness and personal training up to 10 people
Day camps
Campsites and campgrounds
Overnight camping at Ontario Parks
Outdoor horse racing and motor speedways
Outdoor pools and wading pools

Yesterday, the province logged just 500 cases of COVID, the lowest amount recorded since September 2020.

Figures show that the seven-day average has fallen to 735, down from 1,029 recorded last week.

The three largest hotspots are Toronto (114 cases) Peel (96 cases), and Waterloo (51).
