Ontario will act to remove Russian-made products from the shelves of LCBOs.
Ontario Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy announced the change on his Twitter, stating: "Ontario joins Canada’s allies in condemning the Russian government’s act of aggression against the Ukrainian people, and will direct the LCBO to withdraw all products produced in Russia from store shelves."
The removal comes as Russia continues its illegal attack on Ukraine.
Calls to remove Russian-made products from LCBO shelves started on Friday morning, after the Ontario Liberals released a statement.
"Our allies in Ukraine are under attack by Russia and need our help," stated Del Duca. “Pulling Russian vodka from the shelves of the LCBO is an immediate action Ontario can take to demonstrate our solidarity with the people of Ukraine."
"I appreciate the financial support Ontario has already offered to Ukraine in their fight against Russia, and I hope the LCBO will consider this measure as another way to restrict Russia's trade," added Del Duca. "We need to do everything we can to support our allies against the murderous dictator that has invaded Ukraine." “I support the Federal Government's mission against Putin's Russia and thank Prime Minister Trudeau, and Ministers Freeland and Joly for the strong support they've shown for Ukraine. Any and all means of cutting off Russia's economy should be considered. Both provincially and federally.”
