Trudeau to make guest appearance on Canada’s Drag Race

In a recently released trailer for the show which airs on Crave, the Prime Minister is introduced with much enthusiasm by drag queen Brooke Lynn Hytes and makes a dramatic entrance to the shock and surprise of everyone present.

“My jaw just dropped,” said judge Jeanne Beker, who appears to be unfamiliar with Trudeau’s penchant for Pride marches and publicity stunts that show what a good 2SLGBTQI+ ally he is.

“Oh Canada! Crave revealed today the lineup of extra special guests joining Brooke Lynn Hytes, Brad Goreski, and Traci Melchor at the judges table on the all-new Crave Original series, CANADA’S DRAG RACE: CANADA VS. THE WORLD,” read the press release from Bell Media on Nov 8. “Along with the illustrious guest panel, Crave is proud to welcome The Right Honourable Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada, to the show. The Prime Minister’s visit marks the first time a world leader has made an appearance on a Drag Race franchise.”

It is not clear yet whether Trudeau will be involved in judging the competition in which nine international drag queens compete in a glitzy and flamboyant talent show involving outlandish costumes, dancing, and lip-syncing competitions.

Trudeau’s appearance on the show is fitting given that in the years since his election in 2015, drag queens have become ubiquitous in Canada, with drag queen story time at libraries now an all-too-common occurrence, and children twerking on the street with drag queens at supposedly family friendly events.

All this fun and frivolity is occurring with a backdrop of record numbers of children being referred to gender clinics in Canada believing themselves to be members of the opposite sex, where they are typically fast-tracked onto experimental drugs to block their puberty and then later progress to cross-sex hormones and possibly major surgeries. Trudeau would clearly rather spend his time appearing on drag shows than getting himself up to speed with developments around the world where nations such as Sweden, Finland and England have undertaken systematic reviews of the evidence for puberty blockers and found it to be of such poor quality that each country has halted pediatric medical transition.

The drag show starts streaming on Friday, November 18, but it is not yet known which episode Canadians can expect to watch their Prime Minister appear in.
