A police chief in Bonneau, South Carolina answered his door and was immediately attacked by a man, receiving a wound in the face from an ice pick.
Bonneau Chief of Police Franco Fuda told the press he opened the door and went out to meet the suspect in the attack, and found himself fighting for his life.
The alleged assailant, later identified as one Forrest Bowman, cried out “you are going to die today.” He managed to stab Fuda with an icepick, hitting him in the fact just below the eye before running off. Authorities traced him back to his residence, a mobile home nearby, according to the Epoch Times.
The situation became a standoff when Bowman refused to cooperate with officers, and a SWAT team had to be called in. The team forcibly gained entry into this trailer and found him hiding between a wall and a mattress. They then brought him into custody.
Bowman is currently being held without bail and faces charges of attempted murder and assaulting a police officer in connection with the above incident. He also has another outstanding charge against him for allegedly threatening a pastor of a church in the area.
