Police in Washington state are hunting for a former cop who allegedly killed his ex-wife and teenage girlfriend before abducting his 1-year-old son and fleeing, all on the same day he was due in court to face rape charges related to his relationship with his girlfriend and alleged rape of her 16-year-old friend.

Law enforcement have warned that 39-year-old Elias Huizar, a former police officer and school resource officer, is likely armed and dangerous, and could be on his way to Mexico with the infant, identified as Roman Huizar. According to the Tri-City Herald, shots rang out in front of William Wiley Elementary School in West Richland around 3:20 pm on Monday, just as students were leaving for the day. Huizar's ex-wife Amber Rodriguez, who worked as a school aide, was identified as the sole victim. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Just hours later, police discovered a second deceased victim while serving a search warrant at Huizar's home. She was later identified as his girlfriend and is believed to be Roman's mother.

The Washingon State Patrol released an Amber Alert explaining that Roman Huizar had been missing since 5pm Sunday. His father, Elias, was named as the suspected abductor.

Huizar, described as 5 foot 6 inches, 170 pounds wearing all black save for his jeans, which were blue, is believed to be driving a silver 2009 Toyota Corolla with Washington plates CBZ4745. His son is 2 feet tall with light brown hair.

As the Herald reports, Huizar and his ex-wife had two sons, aged five and nine. Their whereabouts is unknown, although Rodriguez did request a change to their custody agreement less than a week ago after filing for a protection order for her and the children in light of Huizar being charged with rape in February.

She noted that he was potentially mentally unstable, citing examples of him harassing her in the years since they divorced in 2020.

On February 3, Huizar was taken into custody and charged with raping his now deceased girlfriend's 16-year-old friend after a night of drinking. The two teens reported him to the police before fleeing with Roman. Law enforcement was also investigating another rape charge as to whether his girlfriend was underage when she became pregnant, according to NonStop Local.

While the age of consent in Washington is 16, the law stipulates that if someone is under 18, their partner must be no more than 5 years older.

Huizar was booked into the Benton County Jail but posted $200,000 bond and was released.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact the authorities.
