Portland Police arrested a security guard on Wednesday for allegedly stabbing a man in the Hazelwood neighborhood.

Arturo Troncoso Jr, 19, was arrested and booked into Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of assault in the second degree, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

Troncoso Jr. was working security at the BottleDrop Redemption Center when he got into a physical altercation with an unidentified man in the parking lot near Northeast 122nd Avenue and Glisan Street. During the altercation, the security officer stabbed the man with a knife. Troncoso remained on scene and cooperated with police, police documents state.

East Precinct officers were dispatched to a report of a stabbing around 8:14 am on Wednesday. Upon arrival, officers found an injured adult male victim who was then transported to the hospital by ambulance and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police have not yet revealed what led up to the stabbing and the department announced it will release further information when it becomes available.

Since Portland City Council defunded the police department, the city has seen a vast increase in crime. Businesses have been forced to hire private security companies to ward off criminals, oftentimes repeat offenders, to ensure that their businesses are not vandalized or burglarized.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
