Banu Negar, a pregnant police officer in Firozkoh, the capital of the central Ghor province, was executed by Taliban militants in front of her family on Saturday amid escalating violence in Afghanistan, according to witnesses.

Negar was working at the local prison and was eight months pregnant at the time of the execution. According to the Daily Mail, the three armed Taliban militants were going "door-to-door" executing people, similar to other incidents reported in August. The gunmen searched the house before locating Negar. They then tied her husband and children up and made them watch while they shot her to death.

Pictures have reportedly circulated online showing blood spattered on the walls in the family's house and Negar's disfigured corpse.

The Taliban has denied responsibility for Negar's death, saying that the incident had to do with "a personal enmity or something else. " The terror group told the BBC it had no involvement in Negar's death and are investigating it.

Taliban spokesperson Zabiullah Mujaheed further commented, "We are aware of the incident and I am confirming that the Taliban have not killed her; our investigation is ongoing." He added the Taliban has announced an amnesty for people who worked for the former administration.

The Taliban has been trying to put themselves forward on the world stage as a much more moderate and inclusive than they're made out to be. However, critics the world over have been begging to differ on many occasions.

Incidents like Negar's murder are unfortunately all too common in a Taliban-occupied Afghanistan, with many occupants finding themselves the victims of Taliban violence, including a gay Afghan man and several American citizens.
