The Department of Health and Human Services announced in a statement that they plan to open a second facility in Carrizo Springs for the purpose of housing 500 children.
It’ll open as soon as it’s safe to house them. According to The Hill, these shelters are purportedly designed to be "where children receive educational, medical, mental health, and recreational services until they can be unified with families or sponsors without undue delay."
This isn’t to be confused with the recent announcement a few days ago of another temporary facility for migrant housing in Pecos, Texas. That one can house 500 children all the way up to a potential 2000.
The above two stories shouldn’t be mixed up with a separate report via The Daily Beast. A story in which it was reported the Department of Health and Human Services asked the Pentagon to house migrant families at military bases: Fort Bliss in El Paso and Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland.
Recently it was reported that over in California the San Diego Convention Center will be another place for migrant children to be housed. Despite the recent media blackout, footage inside a migrant detention facility has leaked. The video is the closest the public has seen to how authorities on the ground are dealing with the recent influx.
A phenomena that critics claim President Biden invited into the US. Just yesterday it was revealed that the Biden administration is spending $90 million to house migrant families in Texas hotels.
