UPDATE: Mark Hamill has since deleted the post depicting a dead Trump from his BlueSky account with a sort of apology: “Accurate Edit for Clarity: ‘He should live long enough to… be held accountable for his… crimes.’ Actually, I was wishing him the opposite of dead, but apologize if you found the image inappropriate," the actor wrote.

Just weeks ahead of the latest Star Wars release, pressure is growing for parent company Disney, as well as former President Obama, to condemn Mark Hamill for a social media post he made depicting Trump dead. The post was made in the wake of another assassination attempt on Trump’s life.

Hamill posted an AI-generated photo of Trump lying dead in a grave, with a tombstone that read "DONALD J. TRUMP 1946–2024." He wrote, "If Only," and added, "He should live long enough to witness his inevitable devastating loss in the midterms, be held accountable for his unprecedented corruption, impeached, convicted & humiliated for his countless crimes. Long enough to realize he'll be disgraced in the history books, forevermore. #don_TheCON."

Just a few days before making the post, Hamill appeared alongside Obama in a video marking "Star Wars Day," and announcing the forthcoming opening of the Obama Presidential Center. The building has frequently been likened to the Death Star seen in the Star Wars franchise.

On May 22, The Mandalorian & Grogu will be released in theaters. In the wake of Hamill’s post, users of social media have called for boycotts and for the Star Wars actor’s comments to be condemned.

Human Events senior editor Jack Posobiec wrote, "The next Star Wars movie comes out in TWO WEEKS. All Conservatives must BOYCOTT Mandalorian and Grogu after Mark Hamill wished death on Trump." He noted in a separate series of posts that while Gina Carano had been fired for comments she made, parent company Disney is "perfectly fine" with what Hamill said.

Posobiec wrote, "Will Barack Obama stand by his buddy Mark Hamill calling for Trump’s death just days after they did a video together? Will anyone in media who was at the WHCD and faced political violence call on Obama to condemn this?"

One user wrote, "if Disney doesn’t completely disassociate with Mark Hamill and fire Jimmy Kimmel they should get boycotted."

Another user called on Disney to "shut Mark Hamill down!"

White House spokesman Davis Ingle told Fox News, "Barack Hussein Obama just appeared in a video with this deranged lunatic three days ago. Now this same person is calling for President Trump to die. Why won’t Obama and Democrats condemn this disgusting call to violence?"

"Will ANYONE ask Obama to disavow this?!" wrote commentator Benny Johnson.
