Vladimir Putin said on Sunday that he could find no fault with the Biden's business dealings in Ukraine.
The Russian leader made a statement on Sunday addressing allegations that Biden had used his position as Vice President of the United States to peddle influence internationally on behalf of his son, Hunter Biden.
"Yes, in Ukraine he [Hunter Biden] had or maybe still has a business, I don't know. It doesn't concern us. It concerns the Americans and the Ukrainians," Putin said. "I don't see anything criminal about this, at least we don't know anything about this."
Putin has remarked, however, that he's discouraged by what he sees as anti-Russian rhetoric from the former Vice President. Where Joe Biden has stated that Russia is the number one threat to the national security of the United States, the Kremlin had hoped to hear differently.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said they disagree fervently with Biden's characterization of Russia's relationship with the United States.
"We absolutely do not agree," Peskov said. "We can only regret that absolute hatred of the Russian Federation is spread in this way."
Last week Biden called Russia the United States' largest opponent, citing a concern for global security and international relations.
"I believe Russia is an opponent. I really do," Biden said. "Putin's overwhelming objective is to break up NATO, to fundamentally alter the circumstance in Europe so he doesn't have to face an entire NATO contingent."
For Russia’s part, the Kremlin sees no issues with Biden’s Ukraine connections, only his sentiments about Russias objectives in Europe.
