Quebec implemented its ban on unvaccinated shoppers entering big box stores including Walmart and Costco on Wednesday.

The province made it so that stores larger than 1,500 meters be banned for the unvaccinated. Those who wish to enter a Walmart or Costco to use their pharmacies must be accompanied by an employee of the store.

The province did not put a ban on the unvaccinated from entering grocery stores. However, the Legault government said that Walmarts and Costos were not primarily groceries, and thus, would be banned.

According to Statista, Costco and Walmart are among Canadians' top three largest grocers.

Quebec's vaccine passport prevalence does not end with their grocery stores.

As of mid-January, the province requires those entering SAQ liquor stores or cannabis stores to present identification.

Quebec is also planning on implementing what they call a "health contribution" on all residents who are not vaccinated.

Health minister Christian Dube also said at one point that the Quebec vaccine passport would be changed to require a third dose of vaccine.
