The campaign to recall California Governor Gavin Newsom just hit a new milestone, surpassing two million signatures. A news release on the petition site reads, "The official Recall Campaign against California Governor Gavin Newsom has now gathered more than 2,060,000 signatures as of Wednesday evening, March 10, 2021."

1.5 million signatures are require to officially recall Newsom for an election. In an interview with KQED, Newsom conceded he has made mistakes, such as attending a dinner while telling Californians not to do so. However, he does not want to be recalled.

“In many respects, we could have gone a little earlier with this overlay, and that’s something in hindsight you consider and you reflect on at the same time,” he said and went on to say he believes the campaign against him is political.

This is despite the fact that many Democrats and Independents have joined the movement against him.

“The People of California are speaking loud and clear. We have cleared another milestone. Politics as usual in California are over as we know it to be,” said Orrin Heatlie, Chairman of The California Patriot Coalition, RecallGavin2020 Committee.
