Reject Doug Ford’s police state

"If you are not willing to comply, then you are breaking the law."

That’s what the Ontario government is telling people. And what does that refer to?

It refers to what would happen if someone refuses to tell the police why they are outside.

That’s right. The Doug Ford "conservative" government has empowered the police to stop anyone who is outside, for any reason, at any time.

The police have the power to demand you explain to them why you are outside. If you refuse, they tell you that you are breaking the law, and can be punished.

"Fascism is here. In Canada. Right now. This is insane."

Also, police have the power to stop any vehicle, at any time, for any reason, and demand to know why someone is driving about, and whether it’s for a government-approved ‘essential purpose.’

This is clearly an assault on the Charter of Rights & Freedoms, with Doug Ford going 100 percent all-in on an authoritarian police-state policy.

And the reaction to this police-state imposition is demonstrating that a tipping point has been reached:

"Sorry, no. I'm done. This crosses a line. Fight this."

"I know a few PC MPPs follow me here, I know a few of you personally. You've got to draw a line here. Someone is breaking the law and will be punished by the police if a police officer decides you're outside for a non-essential reason. This is Ontario, please don't do this"

Destruction of the Charter

Doug Ford’s police state policies represent the destruction of the meaning of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

To stop that from happening, people must resist these measures, reject Ford’s police state, and stand up for their freedoms.

And, rather than being gutless cowards who complain behind the scenes, PC MPPs must publicly reject this assault on freedom.
