Newly released police bodycam footage from the July 13 assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump shows a confrontation between police and Thomas Matthew Crooks, the would-be assasin who took aim at Trump and those in the crowd on that fateful Saturday afternoon in Butler, Penn. The video shows a police officer being boosted onto the warehouse building where Crooks was lying after being alerted to his presence.

After the police offier arrives on the roof, video shows him being confronted with Crooks' assault rifle. Prior to Crooks getting off eight shots, killing retired police chief Corey Comperatore and injuring two other men, rally attendees had attempted to alert law enforcement to the presence of a man on the roof. It was only after Trump was injured by gunfire that Crooks was shot. He died on the warehouse roof.

The sound on the video is off until the 1:38 minute mark.

Social media commentary is focused on how this video adds to the timeline of the attempted assassination in terms of how long it took police to respond to Crooks being on the roof.

Post Millennial senior contributor Charlie Kirk noted on X: "Bodycam footage shows that, even after shots were fired, it took police FIVE MINUTES to reach the location of Trump assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks."

In the wake of the attempt on Trump's life, an investigation was opened in the US House to determine what caused the security failures that led to Crooks being able to undertake his gruesom mission. FBI head Christopher Wray testified, among others. Kimberly Cheatle, then-director of the Secret Service, resigned after being grilled by representatives over her actions and the security failures leading up to the event. Democrat Rep. Ro Khanna asked Cheatle if she knew what happened to the head of Secret Service after an assassination attempt on Ronald Reagan's life. She said that she thought he stayed in his post, but Khanna informed her that the man had resigned. Cheatle resigned the next day.

In the wake of the failed assassin, there have been a raft of YouTube sites devoted to examing the video that has been captured from official and public sources. An examination of the bullet accoustics has also raised questions about whether more than one riflle was used in the shooting.

The SS was made aware of the shooter. Saw the shooter. Allowed the shooter to take the shot. The shooter failed to kill Trump. The SS then killed the shooter. Hmmmm....nothing to see here folks. Move along.
