A lipreader told the New York Post that in his first in-person court appearance on Thursday, Tyler Robinson, who has been charged with murder in the assassination of Charlie Kirk, said he thinks about the shooting "every day."

The lip-reading analysis obtained by the New York Post further indicated that Robinson had spoken with his attorneys about Erika Kirk, the widow of the slain conservative leader. Kirk was murdered as he spoke with students on a college tour at Utah Valley University.

"I think about the shooting daily," Robinson allegedly said. In video live-streamed from the hearing, Robinson could be seen smiling. His attorneys laughed.

"Every morning... all the time," Lip Reader Limited analyzed him saying in the moments before Judge Tony Graf Jr. entered the courtroom and the hearing began.

"So, he had a wife..." Robinson is also alleged to have said, per the lip reader. Kirk's widow, Erika, is now raising their two small children on her own. She has also been elected to lead Kirk's non-profit Turning Point USA after the Board unanimously voted for her leadership.

Robinson may be having trouble in prison, as the lip reader indicated that he said he's been smoking a lot and "not sleeping at night." "It's driving me mental," he is believed to have said.

"Unfortunately, it’s doing my head in. I’m not good for anything," he reportedly said.

Robinson was permitted to wear civilian clothes in the hearing, his first appearance in court, where Judge Graf heard lawyers argue about media access to the coming trial. Graf is set to make a ruling on whether or not to permit cameras in the courtroom during a February 3 hearing.

Graf did allow cameras in the courtroom during the hearing, but after defense attorneys complained that Robinson's shackles were visible, in violation of an earlier pre-trial order, the cameras were made to move to the other side of the room.

Robinson was apprehended after Kirk's Sept. 10 killing after the FBI released surveillance footage of the suspect, and Robinson's parents recognized their son. They spoke with him and with the help of a family friend in law enforcement aided their son in turning himself in.

Robinson has been in prison since he was apprehended and his parents have been visiting with him virtually. His mother, father, and another relative were in the courtroom on Thursday. When Graf closed the courtroom to discuss security matters with the attorneys, his parents were also removed from the room.

His mother was seen crying in the hallway. Robinson was charged with aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury, obstruction of justice, two counts of witness tampering and commission of a violent offense in the presence of a child.
