A late-night “noise demo” outside a SpringHill Suites by Marriott in Maple Grove, Minnesota, on Monday night escalated into a riot and drew a multi-agency police response as agitators demonstrated against federal immigration enforcement and alleged that US Border Patrol commander Gregory Bovino was staying inside the hotel. One of the agitators said that there was a spot for Bovino in hell "next to Charlie Kirk" and multiple arrests took place.

The previous night, activists had targeted another area hotel where they believed ICE agents were staying. Multiple people were taken into custody.

"Greg Bovino, there's a spot waiting for you in hell, open chair, right next to Charlie Kirk and Dick Cheney," an agitator with a blowhorn said.

Maple Grove police said officers were called to the SpringHill Suites on Arbor Lakes Parkway at about 8 pm after reports of a protest. Authorities say the situation escalated when some participants began throwing objects at officers and damaging property, prompting a dispersal order and multiple arrests.

Videos circulating online showed a crowd gathering near the hotel entrance, chanting and banging on objects in what activists described as a “noise demo,” a tactic commonly used to disrupt the rest of a targeted person or institution. The agitators believed Bovino and other federal agents were inside, though officials did not publicly confirm hotel arrangements.

As law enforcement arrived, including local officers and additional agencies called in as the crowd grew, demonstrators were pushed back from the property line and nearby streets. Police issued orders for people to leave the area, and those who remained were taken into custody.

Monday’s hotel protest followed the Jan. 24 shooting death of Alex Pretti, an anti-ICE agitator, who was killed during a confrontation with federal agents in Minneapolis.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that Bovino and some agents were expected to leave the Minneapolis area as political pressure and scrutiny intensified. The Trump administration also dispatched Border Czar Tom Homan to oversee immigration enforcement operations, signaling a shift in management and messaging as investigations and public criticism have mounted.

By the end of the action, the dispersal order had cleared most of the crowd from the immediate hotel area. Maple Grove police said several people were arrested after refusing to leave following the dispersal order.
