Chad Bianco, the Sheriff of Riverside County, California published a public message on Friday addressing California Gov. Gavin Newsom's coronavirus lockdown orders.
In the video, Bianco challenged Newsom's policies and stated that his deputies would not serve as an arm of the Newsom's "dictatorial" edicts, referring to the governor as a hypocrite.
"We have all recently learned of the new regional approach to combating COVID-19 and the pending closure and stay-at-home orders from our Governor. We were also told that there was a potential he would be withholding state and federal funding from counties who did not enforce the orders," said Bianco.
"Ironically, it wasn't that long ago that our same governor loudly and publicly argued how wrong it was for the President of the United States to withhold federal funding from states not complying with federal laws," he continued.
"The dictatorial attitude toward California residents while dining in luxury, traveling, keeping his business open, and sending his kids to in-person private schools is very telling about his attitude towards California residents."
(Governor Newsom was in fact caught on video dining out at the French Laundry in the Napa region recently.)
"It appears part of the new goal is to shift attention away from his and others personal behavior with a 'Do as I say, not as I do,' attitude by turning public opinion against California Sheriffs," stated the sheriff.
Bianco went on to state that Riverside County will not be threatened by the likes of Governor Newsom. "Leaders do not threaten, attempt to intimidate, or cause fear, bullies do," said Bianco.
Independent journalist Mick Cernovich pulled no punches with this tweet on the subject:
"'Hitler in Hair Gel' Gavin Newsom is sat the F*CK DOWN in this video from Riverside County California sheriff Chad Bianco."
