Russell Brand argued on his Friday podcast episode that Americans who "care about freedom" should support Donald Trump over Joe Biden in the upcoming election. The British actor and comedian-turned political commentator slammed Democrats for their "weaponization of the justice system," and warned that Trump voting them in for another term would only lead to more "censorship" and suppression.

During the episode, Brand also took aim at pundits at cable news outlets for treating Trump supporters as bringers of the apocalypse. He suggested that the left presented a much greater threat.

"In a straight choice between Donald Trump and Joe Biden, if you care about democracy, if you care about freedom, I don't know how you could do anything other than vote for Donald Trump for precisely the reasons that they claim that you can't," he told his guest, model and Republican National Committee spokesperson Elizabeth Pipko, per a preview clip obtained by Fox News

"They act as if a vote for Donald Trump is almost like you're directly voting for Armageddon," he added, drawing attention to "hysterical performances outside of courtrooms" and "endless MSNBC bombast," but, "I'm starting to think that no, a greater threat to democracy is this kind of technological feudalism, that tells you that it cares about you and that it’s protecting vulnerable people, all the while increasing censorship, increasing the funding of wars, increasing the division between ordinary Americans."

Brand told Pipko that he'd long been "concerned about the snobbery and the contempt and condemnation in which people that support Donald Trump are plainly held by his detractors," arguing that the Biden administration has been, "plagiarizing from Donald Trump, while simultaneously criminalizing him from the weaponization of the legal system."

"The idea of this ... Orwellian nightmare continuing all the while they're telling you that they're helping you, is a far greater threat than their constant portrayal of Trump as a mad strongman figure, a kind of twenty-first century reiteration of the despotism of the last century," he warned. "For me, what we are facing now is a bigger threat than that."

As the Daily Mail reports, Brand is currently in Florida conducting a series of interviews with political figures. His guests have included Donald Trump Jr, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. While he has hinted of an interview with Trump himself, whether that comes to fruition remains to be seen.
