Sean Connery, legendary actor and Hollywood icon, has died at age 90.

Connery, who portrayed James Bond and appeared in films such as Hunt for Red October, The Wind and the Lion, The Man Who Would Be King, and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, was confirmed dead by his family on Saturday morning.

The Scotsman won the award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Untouchables.

During his legendary career, Connery won one Academy Award, two BAFTA Awards, and three Golden Globes.

In 2004, a poll found that Connery was the "The Greatest Living Scot," according to the Sunday Herald,  and was considered a "national treasure." Connery was voted by People as both the "Sexiest Man Alive" and the "Sexiest Man of the Century," in 1989 and 1999, respectively.

Connery was knighted in 2000 for his service to the industry.

Connery retired from acting in 2006.
