"I hit rock bottom," said Diddy. "But I make no excuses."
Rapper and producer Sean "Diddy" Combs apologized on Sunday after surveillance video footage from 2016 surfaced showing him violently assaulting singer ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura at a Los Angeles hotel.
"I hit rock bottom," said Diddy in an Instagram post. "But I make no excuses."
The incident occurred at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles on March 5, 2016. Ventura filed a lawsuit against Combs in Nov. 2023 on allegations of physical violence and sexual abuse that lasted for several years.

CNN obtained video footage of the attack and published it earlier this week, which showed Combs running after Ventura in the hotel hallway, grabbing her by the back of the neck, throwing her to the floor, and kicking her.
"It's so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you gotta do that," continued Combs. "I was f*cked up."
According to the video, Combs continued the assault on his ex-girlfriend for quite some time. Ventura's complaint stated that Combs became "extremely intoxicated and punched Ms. Ventura in the face, giving her a black eye" during that incident.
"My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in this video. They're disgusting. I was disgusted then when I did it, I'm disgusted now. I went and I sought professional help. I've been going to therapy, going to rehab. I had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I'm so sorry, but I'm committed to being a better man each and every day. I'm not asking for forgiveness. I am truly sorry," said Combs.
Ventura claimed in court documents that Combs had paid $50,000 to the Los Angeles hotel to obtain the security tape that showed the physical altercation.
Counsel for Combs at the time insisted his client was innocent of "these offensive and outrageous allegations." The lawsuit was resolved for an unknown sum the day it was filed.
Since November, Combs has been the target of several additional lawsuits claiming sexual misconduct, rape, and other crimes. The rapper's homes in California and Florida were raided by officials in April as part of a Department of Homeland Security investigation into alleged sex trafficking.
