"T is for Trans... R is for Radical Reds"
According to the Burien News, Marvista Elementary in Normandy Park, Washington did not inform parents that the day following Dr. Martin Luther King Jr day, children were read the book “A is for Activist,” by Innosanto Nagara, filled with activist slogans and radical far-left ideology.
Some of the lines include:
"L is for LGBTQ, liberate
"M… megaphones, May Day
"O… 'Educate, agitate, organize.'
"P… peace march, protest, 'pow pow power to the P, P, people'
"R is for 'Radical Reds,' 'Ruinous Rioters,'
"T is for Trans… he, she, they, that is you
"X… is for… Malcolm X"
The last letter of the book Z is for “Zapatista, of course,” the far-left militant revolutionary group in Mexico.
The concealing of the radical book from parents was the latest controversy since the beginning of the year.
Earlier this month, a 4th-grade class received an “Equity Lesson” after one of the school’s teachers, Ms. Angela, decided over winter break to become Mr. Angel, and students were expected to use new “he/him” pronouns.
In a last-minute email to parents the day before school was slated to resume, the principal sent out lesson plans including the book “It Feels Good to be Yourself: A Book About Gender Identity,” by Theresa Thorn.
According to the principal, the book, which includes a passage about doctors guessing a baby’s sex at birth, claiming they are sometimes wrong, was deemed “age appropriate” and “in accordance with the board policy in Highline Public Schools.”
In response, angry parents packed a January 10th school board meeting with the Highline District’s Superintendent Dr. Ivan Duran to address “concerning feedback” about the situation.
At the meeting, Duran cited the district’s equity policy and efforts to create an “anti-racist organization.”
