The suspect, John P. Curran, 42, previously faced child rape charges in Seattle from his time as a volunteer at the Boys and Girls Club and is currently charged with rape of child and child molestation in Snohomish County where he is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct 18.
According to the rape case’s charging documents, while Curran was a volleyball coach he sexually assaulted a teenage girl in Everett and Seattle. However, he was released from custody on personal recognizance in March 2022.
Court documents obtained by The Post Millennial show that on Wednesday morning, Curran was booked into the King County jail on charges of second-degree murder for allegedly killing his girlfriend in their home on Sept. 29.
The death was ruled a homicide by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office. The victim died from internal bleeding after an autopsy revealed her body had extensive injuries that were caused by blunt force trauma.
According to police, Curran originally told officers his girlfriend rolled off the bed after drinking and hit her eye on a cinder block the night before he found her dead.
Investigators allege that Curran took videos of the victim while she was unconscious on the floor and made sexual comments while narrating them.
Curran even attempted to claim his girlfriend had been kidnapped and raped by men in Shoreline, according to police. When officers confronted him with the findings of the medical examiner, Curran stated he “could not remember half the night,” adding, “You already got me, man.”
He then admitted the couple got into an argument that night.
Though Curran refused to appear at his court hearing on Wednesday, a King County judge set bail at $3 million.
